HOMMAGE a VINCENT VAN GOGH
During 2005, 5 artists from Banbury were selected by the Association, L’ Art en Vie, to show work inspired by Van Gogh along with examples of recent work. 31 artists from 10 countries exhibited in the Theatre Pierre Fresnay, Ermont, France during December 2005.
Christine O’Sullivan and artist Belinda Ellis travelled by Euro Star from London Waterloo to Paris, then on to Ermont by local train. Along with artists from Ermont's other twin towns, the exhibition was hung in the vast hall of the Theatre Pierre Fresnay.
Christine exhibited 2 paintings, vi & vii, inspired by Van Gogh’s 'Wheat Field with Crows', along with 5 other paintings.
Top photo above is of Belinda Ellis standing in the field that Van Gogh painted 'Wheat Field with Crows'.
'When I chose that painting to use as inspiration for this exhibition I did not realise that it would be so near to Ermont and that we would be visiting it during our stay, so unintentionally it was a fitting choice'.
A catalogue was produced for the exhibition.
